Rick Bolt joined the Public Transport corporation in 1984 as an apprentice linesman. Although he completed his apprentice schooling at the State Electricity Commissions Chadstone training centre.
In 1988 Rick joined the State Electricity
Commission in Mildura, where he was engaged as a linesman in
the construction and maintenance of the SEC's assets. Rick
later relocated to the SEC's Ouyen depot, where he undertook
significant training to enhance his existing skills. Rick
was involved in the construction and maintenance of the
SEC’s assets. Rick also attended to faults on the sub
transmission and distribution systems and became a Zone
Substation operator and a live linesman.
Rick later relocated to Yarram as a line
supervisor for the SEC. In this role Rick was engaged to
lead a team of qualified line workers through the start of
the disaggregation of the State Electricity Commission,
while continuing to maintain and construct the SEC's assets.
During this period Rick greatly enhanced his computer and
management skills.
Later Rick was invited to relocate to
Bairnsdale to take up the position of Supervisor of the
Bairnsdale and district depots for the State Electricity
Commission. During this extremely trying period Rick was
responsible in bringing this group of line crews through the
final stages of the break up of the State electricity
commission and into Eastern Energy/Enetec. It was also
during this stage that Rick was able to further enhance his
computer, project management and reporting skills by project
managing a portion of the Fibre Optic/Pay TV cable roll out
in the outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Rick later moved to the Hydro Electric
corporation in Tasmania. In this role Rick was charged with
managing the Hobart Underground Jointing and testing
sections through the break up of the HEC and into Aurora
Energy. Once completed Rick took on the role of managing the
High Voltage field operators state wide and moved in to
Project management in a more permanent role.
This included project managing a number
of crews performing work in Victoria for Powercor under
contract.
At the completion of the contracted works
for Powercor, Rick remained with Powercor as a Project
Manager with the Major project group.
In 2004, Rick formed KPI Project
Management & Consultancy to further offer the enormous skill
base he possess to other clients.
His skills include, Project management in
line with the principles of project management, estimating
and budget control, Scope preparation, client negotiation,
project planning, design management, construction
management, Health & Safety auditing. Rick has developed
expertise in the use of Word processing, spreadsheet,
project and time scheduling systems, data base programs and
industry standard business management software.
Rick is a licensed Taproot® investigator
and suitably experienced at Root cause analysis. He has also
developed exceptional skills in document development and
process development.
Typical projects that Rick has been
responsible for as Project Manager include Civil design and
construction involving Underground cabling and building
construction. Connection of a number of wind farms to the
electricity grid. Involving the design and construction of
66kV and 22kV overhead and underground infrastructure.
Design and construction of associated communications and
protection systems.
Upgrades of major zone substations from
project conception to final close out.
Design and construction of major
electrical infrastructure for the connection of major
industries to the electricity grid.
Rick is focused on providing the highest
level of project management and consulting services from
with KPI. The management and communication skills developed
by Rick will be the basis for offering these services.
